Part of the 14th International Compassion Focused Therapy Conference, the theme of which is Transforming Minds Through Compassion.
At Millennium Point Birmingham UK and live online.
In this interactive, experiential Breath-Body-Mind (BBM) workshop, you will be guided through easily learned, evidence-based mind-body techniques that fuse breathing with simple movement and guided relaxation practices. BBM is derived from many ancient practices, including yoga, qigong, martial arts, meditation, and modern neuropsychiatry.
Enjoy rounds of accessible, safe, evidence-based breathing and gentle movement practices to feel the restorative benefits and a positive shift in your psychological and physiological state. Learn how you can positively affect your state and your capacity to respond to challenging situations and people with grounded compassion.
There will be opportunities to share your experience of BBM practices with Advanced BBM Teachers, Joanna Harper and Mandy Brinkley. Dr Patrica Gerbarg will provide a brief overview of the scientific basis for the effects of breath practices and illustrative BBM programs, followed by a question-and-answer session. Dr Richard Brown guides you through breath-centered and heart-focused practices that enhance your capacities to receive kindness and care from others, embody self-compassion, and extend your compassionate support to others.
Experience the transformative effects of BBM practices for yourself.
Understand how BBM practices work to change psychophysiological states—specifically, they down-regulate heightened defensive reactions and up-regulate feelings of safety, empathy, compassion, and bonding.
Access information and tools to further develop BBM practice skills for personal development and for helping individuals and groups affected by stress, trauma, or mass disasters.
